Asset record: purchase value, current value, assigned staff.

What you own, and what it's worth

Every asset carries what you paid, what it's worth now, and where it lives. Vans, machinery, tools, computers — the things that don't appear on any invoice but represent most of what a small business has actually bought.

Running costs against the thing itself

Servicing, repairs, fuel and insurance go in as expenses tied to the supplier, and the asset record holds the item's own history. That's what turns "is this van worth keeping" from an argument into a comparison.

The trail is immutable

Asset movements are recorded and can't be quietly rewritten. Assign an asset to a staff member or a location, attach the purchase invoice and warranty, and when it's disposed of, the gain or loss is calculated against what you paid.

Fixed assets — common questions

Does it calculate depreciation automatically?
No. You record purchase value and current value; there's no automatic depreciation schedule, no straight-line or reducing-balance calculation and no capital-allowance reporting. Your accountant handles the tax treatment — this is the register that tells them what exists.
Can I assign an asset to a person or a site?
Yes, both. Assets link to staff and to locations, so you can see who has what and which site it belongs to. Useful when someone leaves and less useful the first time you realise nobody knows where the good drill went.
How many assets can I track?
Five on Free, 10 on Starter, 20 on Growth, and unlimited on Business and Enterprise. The register itself is identical on every plan.
